Popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The Ogun State Police Command has officially declared the controversial artist wanted over allegations of assaulting government officials and violating state property regulations. According to reports, Portable and his associates allegedly assaulted officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) during a sanctioned operation at his establishment, Odogwu Bar, located in Sango-Ota. The officials, who were on duty to enforce regulatory compliance, were reportedly obstructed and physically attacked by the singer's team.

In response, nine of Portable’s associates were arrested and subsequently arraigned on multiple charges, including felony, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. However, Portable himself managed to evade arrest, prompting the police to declare him wanted. 

Property Seizure and Regulatory Violations

Adding to his legal troubles, the Ogun State Government recently sealed Portable’s bar and an uncompleted hotel due to alleged violations of building regulations. Authorities claim that the structures were developed without the necessary approval permits, leading to enforcement action.

Portable took to social media to express his frustration, accusing the government of targeting him unfairly. He claimed that over 20 of his staff and customers were arrested during the operation, with their personal belongings seized. The singer also argued that he had made significant contributions to the community, such as installing streetlights and repairing roads, questioning why his properties were being targeted.

In June 2022, the Ogun State Police Command issued an order for Portable to report to the nearest police station after a viral video surfaced, allegedly showing him instructing a group of young men to attack an individual. The victim sustained injuries, leading to public outrage and police intervention. Despite multiple invitations, Portable refused to honor the summons, which led to a formal declaration of intent to arrest him. 

Resisting Arrest and Clashes with Law Enforcement

Another incident in March 2023 saw Portable resisting arrest when officers attempted to detain him at his bar. The dramatic standoff was live-streamed on his Instagram page, where he challenged the police’s authority, demanding to know the reason for his arrest.
