Senate Appoints Orji Kalu as Chairman of South-East Development Commission

Abuja, Nigeria – In a landmark decision aimed at accelerating infrastructural and economic growth in Nigeria’s South-East region, the Senate has appointed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the Chairman of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC).



The appointment, announced during a plenary session, is expected to drive strategic development initiatives across the region, focusing on infrastructure, security, industrialization, and economic revitalization. Kalu, a former governor of Abia State and a seasoned businessman, is widely regarded as a pragmatic leader with a deep understanding of the region’s challenges and opportunities.
