Anambra Security Forces Raid Notorious Kidnappers’ Den, Seize Weapons and Arrest Suspect

 In a decisive move against escalating criminal activities, joint security forces in Anambra State launched a pre-dawn raid on January 30, 2025, targeting a notorious kidnappers' den in Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area.The operation, spearheaded by Governor Chukwuma Soludo's security outfit, Operation Udo Ga-Achi, resulted in the dismantling of the criminal hideout and the seizure of a significant cache of weapons.



Meticulous Planning and Execution

Acting on credible intelligence, the joint task force, comprising personnel from the police, Department of State Services (DSS), military, and other security agencies, commenced the raid around 1 a.m.The element of surprise was pivotal, as many of the hoodlums fled with injuries, leaving behind their arsenal.One suspect, identified as Chukwudi Tansi, was apprehended and is currently assisting in further investigations.

Arsenal Recovered

The operation led to the recovery of a substantial array of weapons and items, including:

  • Two AK-47 rifles
  • Eight pump-action guns
  • Four locally made pistols
  • Three packets of cartridges containing 101 rounds
  • Four empty AK-47 magazines
  • Three cutlasses
  • A Baofeng radio
  • One motorcycle
  • Assorted charms

These recoveries underscore the severity of the threat posed by such criminal elements in the region.







Since its inception, Operation Udo Ga-Achi has dismantled six criminal camps across Anambra State, reflecting a robust and proactive approach to combating crime.The state had been grappling with persistent security challenges, including numerous cases of killings and kidnappings.However, the tide appears to be turning due to the kinetic and non-kinetic security strategies implemented by the state government.

While the Anambra State Police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, has yet to release an official update on the latest operation, the state government, through the office of the Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has confirmed the successful raid. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to aid ongoing investigations.
