In a strategic move ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its primary election for March 29, 2025.This decision was confirmed by Anambra APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, following a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party's National Secretariat.



Aspirants in the Spotlight

The race for the APC ticket has attracted notable figures:

  • Sir Paul Chukwuma: Former National Auditor of the APC.

  • Prof. Obiora Okonkwo: Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines (UNA).

  • Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu: A former representative of Abuja Municipal in the House of Representatives.

These aspirants are gearing up for a contest that promises to be both intense and consequential.

Financial Commitments and Inclusivity Measures

The APC has set the cost of the expression of interest and nomination forms at ₦50 million.However, in a bid to promote inclusivity:

  • Female Aspirants and Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Exempted from purchasing fees.

  • Youths (Aged 25 to 40): Eligible for a 50% discount on the nomination forms.

This approach underscores the party's commitment to broadening participation across diverse demographics.







Delegate Participation and Financial Obligations

Delegates responsible for electing the party's candidate are required to:

  • Purchase a Delegate Form: Priced at ₦5,000.

  • Financial Standing: Must be up-to-date with party dues, having maintained membership for at least three months prior to the delegate congress, at a rate of ₦200 per month.

These stipulations aim to ensure that only committed and financially current members participate in the selection process.

Timeline for Nomination Process

The APC has outlined the following schedule:

  • Sale of Nomination Forms: Commences on February 10 and concludes on February 25, 2025.

Aspirants are advised to obtain their forms within this window to ensure their participation in the primary election.

INEC's Role and Oversight

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been actively engaging with political parties to ensure adherence to electoral timelines and regulations.INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, recently met with party leaders to emphasize the importance of conducting transparent and timely primaries.

Chief Basil Ejidike has reiterated the party's dedication to conducting a primary election that is free, fair, and credible. He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stating, "Under my watch, I will do everything humanly possible to continue to keep Anambra APC as one indivisible family through guaranteeing them a free, fair, and credible primary election come March 29th.
