"Global Infrastructure Titan Adebayo Ogunlesi Joins OpenAI Board, Bringing BlackRock Expertise to Shape AI's Future"

In a strategic move poised to reshape the landscape of artificial intelligence, OpenAI has appointed Adebayo "Bayo" Ogunlesi to its Board of Directors. Ogunlesi, a luminary in global infrastructure investment, is the Founding Partner, Chairman, and CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a premier platform managing over $100 billion in assets.

This appointment comes on the heels of GIP's recent $12.5 billion acquisition by BlackRock, where Ogunlesi now serves as a Senior Managing Director and sits on BlackRock's Board of Directors.

Ogunlesi's illustrious career spans over two decades at Credit Suisse, where he held pivotal roles, including Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Client Officer of the Investment Banking Division. His tenure as Head of the Global Investment Banking Division further solidified his reputation as a financial strategist of the highest caliber.

OpenAI's decision to bring Ogunlesi on board underscores a commitment to integrating unparalleled expertise in infrastructure and finance, essential components in the quest to develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). His extensive experience is expected to provide invaluable guidance as OpenAI navigates the complexities of AI infrastructure and global market strategies.

Bret Taylor, Chair of OpenAI’s Board, remarked, "Bayo has an exceptional track record of driving success in organizations with global reach, expertly navigating complex and dynamic commercial landscapes. We’re honored to welcome him to the Board."

Ogunlesi himself expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "The rapid advancement and development of AI offers a unique opportunity to build a better future. As part of this, thoughtful strategies and investment in infrastructure will be key to unlocking AI’s full potential and delivering its benefits responsibly. I’m excited to contribute to this effort and look forward to being a part of the OpenAI Board."

As OpenAI continues its mission to advance AI for the betterment of humanity, the inclusion of a figure of Ogunlesi's stature signals a strategic alignment of technological innovation with robust infrastructure development, setting the stage for unprecedented advancements in the field.
