National Assembly Clears JAMB of Misappropriation Allegations, Hails Registrar Oloyede for Transparency

In a pivotal move, the National Assembly has officially cleared the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of any allegations concerning financial misappropriation, bringing an end to months of scrutiny. This decision comes after an extensive review of the board’s financial activities and operations, which found no evidence of misconduct.

The National Assembly’s endorsement also commended Professor Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar, for his leadership in ensuring transparency and accountability within the board. Oloyede, who has led JAMB with notable reforms since his appointment, has been instrumental in restructuring the operations of the board, significantly reducing fraudulent practices, and streamlining the examination process.

During the investigation, which had been prompted by prior allegations, members of the National Assembly were assured of JAMB's commitment to upholding integrity in its financial dealings. In particular, Oloyede’s reforms in the admission process, as well as his efforts in digitizing operations, were highlighted as key factors that improved efficiency and minimized corruption risks.

The thorough investigation, conducted over several weeks, not only cleared JAMB of any wrongdoing but also painted a picture of a well-managed board under Oloyede’s stewardship. Experts and critics have noted that under his leadership, JAMB has made strides in promoting fairness, especially in addressing issues related to exam fraud and mismanagement that plagued the institution in the past.

With this resolution, the National Assembly has expressed confidence in JAMB’s ability to continue its mission of overseeing fair, transparent, and credible admissions into Nigeria’s higher educational institutions. The move also signals a renewed trust in the current administration's efforts to improve the education sector, bringing hope to millions of prospective students across the country.
