Strategic Investments in Gwagwalada Area Council

Minister Wike highlighted that Gwagwalada Area Council alone received over ₦50 billion in funding. Key projects include:

  • Paikon Kore – Ibwa Road Rehabilitation: The nine-kilometer road, costing ₦8.5 billion, was inaugurated to enhance connectivity and economic activities in the region.

  • Educational Infrastructure Upgrades: A total of ₦16.5 billion has been dedicated to the rehabilitation and upgrading of five secondary schools in Gwagwalada, including the School for the Gifted and Government Secondary Schools in Gwagwalada, Anagada, Tungan Maji, and Giri.

Comprehensive Development Across FCT Area Councils

The substantial investment of over ₦300 billion spans all six area councils within the FCT, underscoring the administration's commitment to balanced regional development.Minister Wike emphasized that these efforts counter claims of the government focusing solely on urban centers, demonstrating a holistic approach to infrastructural growth.

Local leaders, such as Gwagwalada Area Council Vice Chairman Saidu Zuba, have lauded the government's initiatives, noting significant improvements in infrastructure and security.Minister Wike also announced plans to construct the Ibwa bridge, addressing community concerns about student safety during the rainy season.

The Tinubu administration's targeted investments in the FCT's satellite towns reflect a strategic effort to foster inclusive development, enhance connectivity, and improve the quality of life for residents across the region.
