On January 29, 2025, the tranquility of Abia State was shattered when Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi, Corporal James Daniel, and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka were apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Abayi. Armed with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol, the trio, along with two civilian accomplices, hatched a plan to hire a minibus and abduct civilians along the Port Harcourt Expressway. The victims were subjected to threats and extorted for money, with their families being coerced into making additional payments for their release.


Disciplinary Action

The revelations prompted swift action from the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, who initiated immediate administrative disciplinary measures. The result was the dismissal of the three errant officers from the Nigeria Police Force, effective immediately. This decisive action serves as a stark reminder that misconduct and corruption within the force will not be tolerated. The dismissed officers, along with their civilian accomplices, have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution.
