Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken a groundbreaking step in easing the financial strain on commuters by announcing a 30% reduction in Red Line train fares. This strategic move is set to transform public transportation in Nigeria’s commercial capital, enhancing affordability while encouraging mass transit adoption.



Revamping Lagos’ Transport System with the Red Line

The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line, a pivotal component of the state’s transport infrastructure, stretches 27 kilometers from Agbado to Oyingbo. Officially launched in October 2024, the Red Line is designed to decongest Lagos' roads by providing a fast, reliable, and cost-effective alternative to road transport.

With eight strategically located stations, the Red Line integrates seamlessly with the Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge Railway, optimizing existing infrastructure for urban commuting. The line is a critical element in Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision for a modern, efficient, and sustainable mass transit system.

Economic Relief for Millions of Lagosians
