In a decisive crackdown on illegal immigration and transnational crimes, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has apprehended 155 foreign nationals across three states. This extensive operation underscores Nigeria's unwavering commitment to fortifying its borders and enhancing national security.

The meticulously coordinated raids spanned multiple regions, targeting hotspots identified through actionable intelligence. The NIS, in collaboration with other security agencies, executed simultaneous operations, leading to the arrest of individuals engaged in cybercrimes, human trafficking, and illegal residency.

Cybercrime Syndicates Dismantled

In Rivers State, authorities apprehended 90 foreign nationals involved in sophisticated cyber fraud schemes. These suspects, predominantly from Cameroon and Chad, were found operating within a covert network designed to defraud unsuspecting individuals. Two Nigerian nationals, suspected of harboring these individuals, were also detained. 

Human Trafficking Networks Exposed

The NIS has intensified its efforts against human trafficking, leading to the arrest of 522 individuals involved in trafficking-related crimes in 2023 alone. This highlights the agency's commitment to dismantling criminal organizations exploiting vulnerable populations. (Source)

Illegal Immigration Crackdown in Abuja

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 113 foreign nationals were arraigned for offenses ranging from cybercrime to immigration violations. Conducted in the Jahi suburb, the operation unveiled a cache of sophisticated equipment suspected to be used for cyber-related crimes.

These arrests reflect a broader strategy by Nigerian authorities to tackle illegal immigration and associated threats.
