PDP Board of Trustees Declares Ude Okoye as Authentic National Secretary Amid Party Crisis

PDP Leadership Crisis Takes a New Turn as BoT Affirms Ude Okoye's Position

In a bold and decisive move amid ongoing internal strife, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has officially declared Sunday Ude Okoye as the authentic National Secretary. This declaration follows a contentious leadership dispute that has deeply divided the party's ranks.

The BoT's decision was reached during an emergency meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, where the board meticulously reviewed documents from both factions involved in the dispute. Senator Adolphus Wabara, the BoT Chairman, emphasized that the board's resolution was aligned with the Court of Appeal's judgment, which affirmed Ude Okoye's position as National Secretary.

The leadership tussle commenced when Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Ude Okoye both laid claim to the position of National Secretary. Senator Anyanwu, who had previously occupied the role, challenged the decision, citing ongoing legal battles and the expiration of several BoT members' tenures. Despite these challenges, the BoT remained steadfast in its decision, urging the National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately swear in Ude Okoye as the substantive National Secretary.

The BoT's resolution has elicited mixed reactions within the party. While some members have expressed their support for Ude Okoye, others continue to rally behind Anyanwu. The PDP Governors' Forum has also endorsed the BoT's decision, further consolidating Ude Okoye's legitimacy as National Secretary.

This development is regarded as a pivotal step towards resolving the party's internal conflicts and restoring unity within the PDP. The BoT's decision underscores the necessity of adhering to legal judgments and maintaining the highest ethical standards within the party.

As the PDP navigates this transitional period, the focus remains on fostering a cohesive and stable leadership structure. The BoT's resolution is expected to pave the way for a more united and effective party, capable of addressing the myriad challenges facing Nigeria and its citizens.
