Zelensky Declares: No Decisions on Ukraine Without Kyiv and Europe

Munich, Germany – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a forceful address at the Munich Security Conference, reaffirming that any resolutions to the ongoing war with Russia must include both Kyiv and European allies.

“No decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine, no decisions about Europe without Europe,” Zelensky declared, underscoring the necessity of Ukrainian and European involvement in any negotiations. His remarks came amid mounting concerns that global powers might attempt to bypass Ukraine in diplomatic talks with Moscow.

Tensions Rise Over Potential U.S.-Russia Talks

The Ukrainian president’s statement follows reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump is considering direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The mere prospect of such talks, which could potentially exclude Ukraine and European stakeholders, has sparked unease across the continent.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reaffirmed Europe’s stance, stating, “We will not accept any solution that compromises European security or disconnects it from the United States.” European leaders fear that any sidelining of Kyiv in diplomatic discussions would undermine Ukrainian sovereignty and compromise Europe’s collective security.

A Call for European Defense Autonomy

Zelensky’s speech also emphasized the urgency of European defense self-sufficiency. He called for the establishment of a unified European military force, arguing that the continent should not remain solely reliant on external actors for its security.

“Europe must take its security into its own hands,” Zelensky asserted, stressing that European nations must enhance their military capabilities to deter further Russian aggression.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk echoed these sentiments, warning that “Europe urgently needs its own strategic plan for Ukraine and our security, or other global players will dictate our future.”

Escalating Conflict and Global Condemnation

Meanwhile, tensions have escalated on the battlefield. A Russian drone strike on the Chernobyl nuclear facility has been widely condemned as a reckless provocation, raising fears of a potential environmental disaster.

International leaders have denounced the attack, warning that such actions further destabilize the region and increase the risk of a wider conflict. The European Union has vowed to bolster its support for Ukraine, reinforcing sanctions against Moscow and ramping up military aid.

A Defining Moment for European Security

As the war rages on, Zelensky’s message serves as a stark reminder of the stakes at hand. He insists that any viable peace agreement must involve Ukraine as a principal party and ensure Europe’s security interests are fully safeguarded.

The principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine” remains a cornerstone of Ukraine’s diplomatic stance. As global negotiations unfold, Ukraine and its European allies are making it clear that they will not allow their future to be dictated by outside powers.

With diplomatic efforts intensifying, the international community faces a critical choice: will it stand firmly with Ukraine, or risk a peace deal that could embolden further aggression? The coming months will determine the future of European security and the resilience of the transatlantic alliance.
